Hulu has finally sold out...sort of
So you’ve probably heard that Hulu is going to start charging for content in 2010. I suppose it was somewhat inevitable. At first, I was annoyed. Sure, their content had commercials, but three commercials in a half-hour show I can live with. But then I couldn’t remember the last time I actually used Hulu. I think I watched Arrested Development season 2, but I digress. Alright, so big deal, Hulu is going to charge you to watch stuff on their site. Here’s my prediction:
Hulu is going to start charging. “Hardcore” users and maybe people without television will pay, but a lot of casual users, like myself, will move on to other *ahem* free video sites. Hulu will become less profitable than it was before and then they’ll do something stupid in an attempt to raise revenues, but will only further alienate users. But I could be wrong. Let’s just see how this plays out.
